The most expensive area in Madrid

Where it is and what it is like
Recoletos is the part of the Salamanca neighborhood closest to the city centre, bordered by the Paseo de Recoletos and Calle Alcalá and crossed by Serrano, Claudio Coello, Lagasca, Jorge Juan and Villanueva. It is home to the National Library, the National Archaeological Museum and Madrid's Golden Mile of luxury shopping. The Retiro park is a five-minute walk away.
Most homes are in stately buildings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries: noble floors with high ceilings, balconies onto the street and a concierge. Very few come to market, and some are sold without ever being listed.
Who buys in Recoletos
Recoletos has the highest share of international buyers among Madrid's prime areas: almost 32% of sales in its postcode, compared with less than 18% elsewhere. Among them, Mexican (22%) and American (20%) buyers lead.
